Celebration of Excellence Awards 2015

Nominated by Elaine Zapata, Dr. Saunjoo “Sunny” Yoon is the recipient of the 2015 Bench-to-Bedside award. The Bench to Bedside award honors a physician-scientist who epitomizes innovative and collaborative efforts to accelerate the transition of scientific discoveries into new cancer therapies. Dr. Yoon’s award included a plaque and $2,500 for professional development and/or program support.

Nominated by Dr. William Slayton, Lauren Staley, ARNP, is the recipient of the 2015 Golden Glove Award. Nominees eligible for the Golden Glove Award are UF Health faculty or clinical staff members… such as nurses, technicians, receptionists, and others…. who personify excellence in patient-centered delivery of cancer care. Ms. Staley’s award included a plaque and $1,000 in professional development and/or program support.

Nominated by Dr. Sanda Tan, Dr. Anna Shaw is the recipient of the 2015 Mentoring Outside the Box Award. Nominees eligible for the Mentoring Outside the Box Award are UF Health cancer research or clinical faculty members who have provided extraordinary leadership and mentoring to students, post docs and/or junior colleagues. Dr. Shaw’s awards included a plaque and $1,000 for professional development and/or program support.

Nominated by Dr. Stringer, Dr. Paul Crispen is the recipient of the MVP Awards. The MVP Award seeks to acknowledge personal and professional excellence that has made a significant positive impact on organizational business, research and/or patient care objectives. Dr. Crispin’s award includes a plaque and $1,500 in professional development and/or program support.

The Top Team Effort Award rewards workgroups for achieving challenging goals and making significant, positive impact on organizational business, research and/or patient care objectives. The Top Team was awarded to the Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit, which demonstrated the highest level of dedication and patient-focused mission in caring for stem cell transplant patients in the UF Health Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program. Led by Dr. Randy Brown, the Top Team Award recipients include Lamis Eldjerou, John Hiemenz, Marie Kasprow, Tracie Kilcrease, Rachel Lawrence, Tiffany Roullier and John Wingard. The team effort was honored with individual plaques and $4,000 in professional development and/or program support.
