Celebration of Excellence!
To acknowledge and honor the outstanding work of our members, we are pleased to invite you to nominate your colleagues to be recognized for their achievements in the Celebration of Excellence Award categories below. Awardees will receive much-deserved peer recognition during the awards reception on April 7th between 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the atrium of the Cancer Genetics Research Complex.
Golden Glove Award:
Nominees eligible for the Golden Glove Award are UF Health Shands faculty or clinical staff members (ie. nurses, technicians, receptionists, etc.) who personify excellence in patient-centered delivery of cancer care. The successful nominee will be one who inspires others with his/her deep commitment to relationship-based patient care and for his/her keen attentiveness to the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones. Prize: Plaque and $1,000 in professional development and/or program support
Bench to Bedside Award:
Translational science investigators and clinicians epitomizing innovative and collaborative efforts to accelerate the transition of scientific discoveries into new cancer therapies are eligible for this award. The award seeks to recognize translational researchers (team or individual) leading to improved therapies, new drug discoveries, and significant contributions to the body of knowledge regarding tumor epigenetics, cell growth and biology, experimental and immunological therapeutics, cancer prevention and programs for underserved populations. Prize: Plaque and $2,500 for professional development and/or program support
Top Team Effort Award:
Clinical and research teams are eligible for the Top Team Effort Award, which has been established to reward workgroups for achieving challenging goals and making significant, positive impact on organizational business, research and/or patient care objectives. The successful team will have demonstrated mission focus, member empowerment and involvement, effective planning, communication and execution, and an ability to work as a team to generate and apply creative solutions to complex problems. Teams may be focused on basic research, clinical studies and/or cancer control/population science. Prize: Individual plaques and $4,000 in professional development and/or program support
Mentoring Outside the Box Award:
Nominees eligible for the Mentoring Outside the Box Award are UF Health Shands research or clinical faculty members who have provided extraordinary leadership and mentoring to students, post docs and/or junior colleagues. The successful nominee for the Mentoring Outside the Box Award will have demonstrated a sustained and selfless interest in the professional development of his/her mentees, serving as a positive role model and offering expert guidance that results in the mentees’ intellectual and professional growth and success in achieving personal and career goals. Prize: Plaque and $1,000 for professional development and/or program support
Faculty and staff from research, clinical and administrative areas are eligible for the MVP Award. Nominees will have demonstrated personal and professional excellence leading to outstanding individual performance that has made a significant positive impact on organizational business, research and/or patient care objectives. Prize: Plaque and $1,500 in professional development and/or program support.
Nomination packets will be screened by the cancer center Celebration of Excellence planning committee to assure they are complete and that nominations meet eligibility requirements. Award recipients and nominators will be notified of their selection in advance, and the awards will be presented during the UF Health Cancer Center Celebration of Excellence Award Ceremony on April 7.
