Overview

The Preston A. Wells, Jr., Center for Brain Tumor Therapy offers comprehensive surgical and medical oncologic management for adult and pediatric tumors of the brain and spine. Our multidisciplinary treatment approach links expert clinicians and researchers to provide the latest advances in cancer treatment. The full gamut of brain and spinal cord tumors are seen. Malignant lesions include glioblastoma, anaplastic astrocytoma, germinoma, metastases, CNS lymphoma, and many others. When needed, these lesions are surgically treated with the latest microsurgical, computer assisted, and radiosurgical techniques. In addition, state-of-the-art radiation and chemotherapies are available. Phase I-III clinical trials are available for patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors, including trials involving treatment, support, quality of life, and outcomes.

Multidisciplinary Treatment Team

Our multidisciplinary approach brings together medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists working with neurosurgeons to provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for patients. Team-members meet weekly to carefully review patient information and develop the best possible treatment plan for each individual. Patients and caregivers are supported by the Center’s “patient navigator” and are provided the opportunity to participate in education programs, counseling and support groups.

The multidisciplinary treatment team includes physicians, nurses and staff who can provide extensive experience in many areas of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Our patients benefit from numerous services including:
