Cancer Health Disparities

Welcome to the University of Florida Health Cancer Center Cancer Health Disparities (CHD) Program!

Although CHD activities have been ongoing at the University of Florida for several years, the CHD program at the University of Florida Health Cancer Center was created in 2011 with the appointment of Dr. Folakemi Odedina as the associate center director for health disparities to facilitate a transdisciplinary and integrated approach to addressing CHD across programs at University of Florida and surrounding communities. Led by a scientific leadership team and a community advisory board, the CHD program supports the center’s mission of:

  1. Providing state-of-the-art cancer treatment, prevention, control and education;
  2. Conducting original scientific research aimed at discovery;
  3. Fostering collaboration to turn research findings into new therapies; and
  4. Ultimately, offering hope in the face of a daunting diagnosis.
