UF&Shands hosts it’s annual Pink Pumpkin Fest on Oct. 13 to raise awareness on the importance of regular screenings for early detection of breast cancer and to support research to improve breast cancer care.

UF&Shands hosted its first Pink Pumpkin Painting Party on Oct. 15 in honor of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The UF&Shands Pink Pumpkin Patch was a sight to behold on the lawn of the Cancer/Genetics Research Complex for more than 500 members of the Gainesville and UF&Shands communities who joined the party to pick out a pumpkin to paint pink, decorate and take home for display in effort to spread the word about early detection of breast cancer to save lives.

Patients Paint Pumpkins Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness!

UF&Shands patients received an unusual treat on Oct. 12 in the form of a Pink Pumpkin Painting Party! The UF Shands Cancer Center and the Shands Arts in Medicine Program partnered to host a patient-centered Pink Pumpkin Painting Party in the Founder’s Gallery of the Health Science Center. Patients from the wards, family members and UF&Shands employees joined in the fun of decorating pumpkins to commemorate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Shands Arts in Medicine staff took the party on the road for those patients too ill to leave their rooms, hauling pink pumpkin cheer to patients in little red wagons.
