Medical oncologists selected for NRG Oncology Early Career Mentorship Subcommittee

Four UF Health medical oncologists have been selected to participate as members on NRG Oncology’s Early Career Mentorship Subcommittee, providing a valuable opportunity to develop their skills as clinical investigators and advance cancer research.

Daniel Araujo, Aline Fares, Gayhun Gim and Kaitlin Nicholson.

Daniel Araujo, M.D., Aline Fares, M.D., Gayhun Gim, M.D., and Kaitlin Nicholson, M.D., were selected for the the subcommittee, which helps early-career investigators become more engaged with NRG Oncology, learn more about the NRG Oncology clinical trial development process and deepen their involvement in research opportunities in NRG Oncology.

Through educational opportunities, investigators gain basic knowledge of protocol design and development in NRG Oncology, with a focus on protocol development, statistical considerations, ancillary projects and translational research.

NRG Oncology is a nonprofit research organization whose mission is to improve the lives of patients with cancer by conducting practice-changing multi-institutional clinical and translational research. It was formed to conduct oncologic clinical research and broadly disseminate study results for informing clinical decision making and health care policy. NRG Oncology brings together the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group and the Gynecologic Oncology Group — each recognized internationally as a research leader.

Separately, Fares was selected to participate in the 2025 Leadership Development Course for Early Career Investigators with Interactive Group Learning & Individualized Coaching Session (ARTES). Participants in the virtual leadership development course gain a solid foundation of non-technical leadership skills such as conflict resolution, time and project management and resource use through both individualized coaching and interactive group sessions.

Araujo was also recently selected for two American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) professional development programs.

Congratulations, Drs. Araujo, Fares, Gim and Nicholson!
