Priya Gurjar, M.A., CCRP, is a research project manager in the Project Management Office within the UF Health Cancer Center’s Clinical Research Office.

Q: What is your hometown?
A: Ormond Beach, Florida.
Q: Describe your educational and professional background.
A: My educational background was central to my development as a research professional. I have bachelor’s degrees in psychology and women’s studies and a master’s degree in women’s studies, all from the University of Florida. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in many different aspects of research by working in patient advocacy, clinical labs and classrooms.
Q: How did you get into your current career path and how many years have you been in the role?
A: I’ve been in my current role for three years. I’ve always been drawn to research as a means of understanding and improving the world around me. Working at the UF Health Cancer Center felt like a natural extension of my interests and a meaningful next step in my career.
Q: What is a typical day like in your job?
A: A typical day involves a mix of protocol development, coordination and study maintenance. I may help screen patients for trials, manage study databases and facilitate protocol amendments. Every day brings a new set of tasks and learning opportunities.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of working for the UF Health Cancer Center?
A: The most rewarding part of working for the UF Health Cancer Center is knowing that my work contributes to advancing treatment options that improve the lives of patients and their families.
Q: How do you keep your skills current and continue to learn and grow?
A: I continue to learn and grow as a project manager through continuing education, attending conferences and workshops, and pursuing certification through the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).

Q: Describe how you would spend your ideal day off from work.
A: My ideal day off would be spent reading, crafting and spending time with my friends and family.
Q: You recently earned your SOCRA certification. What inspired you to pursue this accomplishment and how does it support your role at the UF Health Cancer Center?
A: I pursued my SOCRA certification, which is an internationally recognized standard of knowledge, to strengthen my understanding of clinical research practices and to enhance my credibility in the field. As a SOCRA-certified research professional, I feel confident in my ability to skillfully and accurately navigate my job responsibilities.
