Ji-Hyun Lee, DrPH, recently completed her term as the 120th president of the American Statistical Association.

The inaugural task force brings together experts in biostatistics and cancer research to address the growing importance of statistical science in modern oncology. As advances in data science, precision medicine and clinical trial design continue to transform cancer research, the task force will help guide strategies to strengthen the integration of biostatistics across AACR’s scientific programs and initiatives.

The group will focus on advancing statistical rigor and innovation in clinical trials, identifying training and career development priorities for cancer biostatisticians, and promoting collaborative “team science” that connects quantitative experts with laboratory, translational, clinical and population scientists. The task force will also work to advance reproducibility, transparency and high-quality analytical standards in cancer research.

AACR is one of the world’s leading organizations dedicated to advancing cancer research and accelerating progress in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer through scientific discovery and collaboration.

Lee, a professor in the Department of Biostatistics in the UF College of Public Health and Health Professions, recently completed her term as the 120th president of the American Statistical Association. She was the first Korean American statistician, the first woman statistician from Florida and the first cancer center applied biostatistician in the history of the ASA presidency.
