Access & OpportunitieS EMPOWERING LIVES, FOSTERING UNITY: THE UF HEALTH CANCER CENTER CHAMPIONS BROADENING ACCESS, IMPROVING OPPORTUNITIES, AND PROMOTING A WELCOMING COMMUNITY THROUGH OUR PATIENT CARE, RESEARCH, TRAINING, AND ENGAGEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE.
The UF Health Cancer Center recognizes that broadening participation and improving opportunities for all in the health care workforce is a key step in ameliorating cancer health disparities. We understand that the unique challenges of our catchment area, primarily stemming from geographic, educational, and financial barriers to prevention and care, necessitate a compassionate cancer workforce with the scientific skills and cultural sensitivity to promote health equity. To achieve this, we are committed to educating, training, and recruiting the next generation of cancer researchers. We also aim to identify and address barriers to successful retention and promotion, building a workforce with the scientific capabilities, leadership skills, and cultural competency to address the cancer burden in our catchment area and beyond.
Our plan focuses on implementING innovative programming that:
Broadens access and improves opportunities to engage in the cancer research workforce
Improves opportunities to lead and develop well-prepared cancer research leaders
