Aims
Premise: We seek to enhance the graduate program application success of undergraduate students by offering them a summer research experience in the laboratories of oncology-focused investigators at the UF Health Cancer Center. By taking full advantage of the wide range of faculty research expertise to provide immersive training opportunities in multiple facets of cancer research, we believe that we can achieve the overarching goal of the STRONGER program: to enhance the opportunities for students to successfully enroll in research-focused doctoral degree programs.
Objective: This program is designed to aid students pursuing baccalaureate degrees to achieve the goal of successfully applying to competitive health-related Ph.D. programs to pursue careers in cancer research.
Benefits
Students who are selected for the STRONGER Program will receive the following benefits:
- Round-trip travel to and from Gainesville for non-local participants.
- Subsistence allowance of $600/week for 12 weeks.
- Housing allowance of $2,000 per participant.
- Research education-related expense budget for lab supplies and poster production costs.
