Power Over Breast Cancer Gathering

About: The UF Health Cancer Center’s Community-Partnered Cancer Disparities Research Collaborative (CDRC) and its partners invite you to a gathering on breast cancer for women and the family members who love them.

Attendees will learn about the most effective treatments for breast cancer and ways to prevent late-stage disease. Participants will also have the opportunity to share ways to cope with breast cancer, get support, ask questions and learn about cancer research studies.

When: Saturday, Oct. 21 | 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Where: Springhill Baptist Church, Gainesville, FL

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

About: Help make a positive impact on breast cancer. The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer raises funds to support breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers through a noncompetitive fundraising walk.

This annual event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Celebration Pointe. You can create your own team or search "UF Health" to join a team! If you cannot attend, help Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by supporting its research and programs through a donation. We hope to see you there!

Panera Goes Pink

About: The Panera Goes Pink campaign runs throughout October.

COLLECT FOR A CAUSE: Every Friday in October, customers will be asked for a donation at the register. Winning cafes will be awarded fun prizes throughout the month and pink buttons will be provided for cashiers to wear each Friday that say "Donate Today!" Cafes will display a counter sign promoting the campaign to customers.

OPERATION DOUGH-NATION BOXES: Panera will collect additional cash donations throughout October in its Operation Dough-Nation boxes.

CAFE DECORATING CONTEST: Panera will host a cafe decorating contest on the first Friday of October to bring awareness to its campaign and give team members an extra opportunity to be even more involved!

Pink Pumpkin Challenge

About: Help recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month with your best pink pumpkin at the UF Department of Radiation Oncology’s pink pumpkin competition. Dress them up in sparkles, sequins, lace, with inspirational messages and drawings, or anything you can imagine!

Pumpkins can be submitted by individuals or teams. Selected pumpkins will be displayed Oct. 30-31 in the reception area and you and/or your team will receive a certificate of award.

When: Submit your pumpkin by noon Monday, Oct. 23
Where: Drop off your entry at the Radiation Oncology Reception Desk, Davis Cancer Pavilion

UF Health Women's Health Expo

About: Visit a variety of health-related exhibits and discover ways you can help you and your family live healthier lives. Learn the latest about gynecological cancers, dementia, Alzheimer's Disease and more.

Public Forum: What Everyone Should Know About Breast Cancer

About: UF Health invites you to participate in a free question-and-answer session about the latest information on breast cancer, led by a panel of health care experts.
