As we usher in the month of September, we are reminded of the rich tapestry of cultures that make our institution vibrant and diverse. It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of the UF Cancer Center's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, extend warm greetings as we commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, provides us with a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Hispanic and Latino individuals to our community and society at large. This period of reflection allows us to honor the traditions, histories and cultures that have shaped the lives of countless individuals and continue to do so. At the Cancer Center, we understand the significance of embracing diversity, fostering inclusion and promoting equity. It is through these principles that we create an environment where every individual, regardless of their background, can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives to advance our mission of improving cancer care and research. During this month, we encourage you to engage in activities and initiatives that celebrate Hispanic heritage. Attend events, learn about the rich history and engage in conversations that promote understanding and unity among our diverse community. We invite you all to participate in the various events and activities planned across the city throughout the month to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
