UFHCC Pilot and Exploratory Study Awards (PES)

The UF Health Cancer Center Research Administration Team has completed updates to our Pilot and Exploratory Studies (PES) procedures. The PES program will now be using a web-based platform for accepting letters of support (LOI), all proposals and no-cost extensions (NCE) requests.

The goals of the UFHCC’s Pilot Project Program are to:

  • Provide developmental support for promising, cancer-focused collaborative research projects with a well-defined major objective or theme;
  • Create synergies and lasting collaborations between cancer researchers that will lead to impactful publications and stimulate collaborative grant applications for future Federal or other peer-reviewed extramural cancer research funding.

Data Sharing

Scientific data (including the raw data) directly generated from UFHCC Pilots must be submitted to the Cancer Data Commons for sharing and reuse with other UFHCC investigators, following the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse (FAIR) principles.  The Cancer Informatics Shared Resource (CISR) will provide support in data management and assuring that study generated research data can be readily available in the Cancer Data Commons.
