Cancer Informatics Program

The UF Health Cancer Institute Informatics Program advances cancer research by providing investigators across the University of Florida with expert informatics support and shared data infrastructure in biomedical, translational and population cancer informatics.

The program builds and applies advanced informatics tools, data analytics and artificial intelligence approaches to integrate clinical, genomic and imaging data. These capabilities enable data sharing, interdisciplinary research and the translation of data-driven discoveries into improved cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, consistent with national cancer research priorities.

Program Components

Cancer Informatics Shared Resource (CISR)

The Cancer Informatics Shared Resource supports UF researchers by enabling access to and analysis of complex, multimodal data sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), tumor registries, clinical trial systems, genomic data and patient-reported outcomes. It delivers expert services in clinical data integration, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) and digital health implementation.

Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC)

The Cancer Research Data Commons is a secure, centralized data infrastructure, developed and maintained through the Cancer Informatics Shared Resource, that brings together cancer-relevant data across UF Health clinical, research and population health systems. UF investigators can request access to integrated datasets encompassing electronic health records, tumor registry data, genomic profiles, imaging studies and patient-reported outcomes.

Cancer AI Working Group

The Cancer AI Working Group brings together faculty, clinicians, data scientists and trainees to advance the development and application of artificial intelligence in cancer research and care. The group meets regularly to share research findings, identify collaborative opportunities and promote best practices in AI methodology across the institute.
