Cancer Research Data Commons

The UF Health Cancer Institute Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC) is a secure, centralized data infrastructure, developed and maintained through the Cancer Informatics Shared Resource, that brings together cancer-relevant data across UF Health clinical, research and population health systems. UF investigators can request access to integrated datasets encompassing electronic health records, tumor registry data, genomic profiles, imaging studies and patient-reported outcomes.

The CRDC is designed to accelerate translational and population research by reducing barriers to data access, enabling reproducible analyses and supporting collaborative multi-investigator studies. Data access is available to UF Health Cancer Institute members through a streamlined request process aligned with institutional data governance and IRB requirements.

A flow chart describing the Cancer Research Data Commons workflow.

The Cancer Research Data Commons includes:

  • UF Health Data/IDR
  • UF Health Tumor Registry
  • OnCore & RedCap (CRO & PMO)
  • COE Analysis & Reporting (COE)
  • UF Health Cancer Institute Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW)
  • Microbiome & Biospecimen Business
  • Trainee Training & Workforce (CTEP)
  • Objects/Claims Data (Service Line)
  • Data & Database Coordination
  • Radiomics & Digital Pathology
  • Clinical Genomics

Data moves from the Cancer Research Data Commons to the Cancer Informatics Shared Resource and Biostatistics & Computational Biology Shared Resource and then to the UF Heath Cancer Institute’s four research programs. Data is also used for UF Health Cancer Institute operations, including the Clinical Research Office for trial recruitment and trial cost-effectiveness; the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement for outreach targets; finance and cost analysis; and strategic planning.
