Summary
The Cytometry Core/ICBR is opening a pilot project opportunity for investigators interested in exploring the capabilities of the Sony ID7000 Spectral Cell Analyzer. The projects will be self-run in consultation with the core staff, thus the user must already be trained on the ID7000 or agree to pay for training prior to the project award. Awardees will be required to submit a brief summary report (2-3 pages) of their findings at the completion of the project.
The goal of this program is to support innovative applications of spectral flow cytometry and expand the use of advanced spectral technologies within the UF research community.
We invite proposals focused on:
- Novel biological questions that would benefit from spectral flow cytometry.
- Applications involving autofluorescence extraction and characterization.
- Cross-platform validation studies between the two Sony ID7000 instruments available in the Core.
- Evaluation of new fluorochromes, tags (e.g. ankyrons, a feline antibody panel), or reagents (e.g. comparing different beads, FC blockers, sheath buffer additives like Tandem Stabilizers, fixatives)
- Testing new sample types (plankton, Nanovials or capsules), new assays (calcein/LD/annexin or caspase 3 comprehensive viability characterization, calcium flux, mitochondrial metabolism, or others)
- Technical workflow improvements (testing 96w filter plates, FlowMi tip strainers, plate vortexing, etc)
- Other innovative projects that showcase the unique capabilities of spectral cytometry
Selected projects will receive consultation and 10 hours of time as self-service instrument access. Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate scientific innovation, methodological development, or broad applicability to the research community. The reagents will not be provided for these tests.

2. Scientific objective and significance.
3. Description of the proposed spectral flow application.
4. Expected outcomes and potential impact.
5. Estimated number of samples and timeline.
