Understanding the Population We Serve

The UF Health Cancer Institute serves more than 3.4 million residents across 26 counties of North, Central and East Florida, spanning the size of Southern New England.

Most of the counties (17) are rural and all are classified as medically underserved or as having medically underserved areas. The population has the highest fraction (24%) of residents age 65 and older in Florida.

Through community outreach, the UF Health Cancer Institute supports efforts to increase health literacy, prevention, screening and research engagement.

Cancer InFocus

Cancer InFocus is an interactive data visualization platform designed to help users explore cancer incidence, stage at diagnosis and mortality across our catchment area. The dashboard provides accessible, data-driven insights to support community engagement, research planning, program development and policy decision-making.

Data are presented at the county level and can be filtered by cancer type and selected indicators to highlight geographic patterns and disparities in cancer outcomes.
