Training Program Faculty

TICaRT faculty mentors provide expertise across the broad spectrum of cancer research. This wide range of faculty research interests and expertise provides our trainees with extensive training opportunities in the multiple facets of cancer.

Three‑circle Venn diagram illustrating cancer research areas. The top gold circle is labeled ‘Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer’ and describes basic laboratory and preclinical investigations that may require translational endpoints and collaboration to apply findings for public benefit. The lower left gray circle is labeled ‘Translational Cancer Therapeutics’ and explains research that bridges laboratory studies with clinical initiatives in treatment and outcome management. The lower right pale orange circle is labeled ‘Cancer Population Sciences’ and describes population‑based research including epidemiology, prevention, early detection, health services, dissemination, palliation, and survivorship. The circles overlap at the center to show the integration of these three research domains.

Participating faculty are aligned in three research clusters: Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer, Translational Cancer Therapeutics and Cancer Population Sciences.

Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer

These mentors are generally associated with basic science departments, and their research is primarily focused on basic laboratory research and pre-clinical investigations that may require a translational endpoint and collaborations with other researchers to foster application of laboratory findings for public benefit.

Translational Cancer Therapeutics

The mentors within this research cluster focus on interdisciplinary research that bridges basic laboratory-based pre-clinical investigations with clinical initiatives in cancer treatment and outcome management.

Cancer Population Sciences

The mentors within this research cluster focus on population-based research, including epidemiology, primary prevention, early detection, health services, dissemination, palliation, and survivorship.
